Climate Change: Conveying Realities

Christine Cuomo, PhD, of UGA’s Philosophy and Women’s Studies, is working with the Eco.Art.Lab to convey the realities of Climate Change issues through art pieces.  The multi-media exhibit is showing from March 23rd until April 27th of 2013 and features many submissions from local artists as well as from students and faculty at the University of Georgia.

The opening reception is the first opening night at 6pm and  a second reception on Earth Day, April 22nd, from 4-6pm.

EcoFocus Film Festival Discussion Panel for film Chasing Ice

The Opening Night Reception Party for the 5th annual EcoFocus film festival is happening March 21st, 2013.  The film feature this evening is Chasing Ice,  directed by Jeff Orlowski and features imagery and film from both Orlowski and National Geographic photographer James Balog.   The Opening Night Reception will start at 6pm and the film screening at 7pm.  After the film, a guest panel will stimulate a discussion and includes participants:

Dr. Patricia Yager (UGA Marine Sciences)

Dr. Rob McDowell (UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government)

Mr. Paul Wolff (Tybee Island City Councilman)

UGA’s Marshall Shepherd testifies to Senate Commitee

This past Wednesday, the day after President Obama’s State of the Union address, the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works held a hearing titled Senate Briefing on the Latest Climate Science.  UGA professor Marshall Shepherd gave testimony with three others including  Dr. Donald Wuebbles, University of Illinois, Dr. James McCarthy, Harvard University, and Dr. John Balbus, M.D., National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
